The city of Auburn is just a little over 23,000 people strong. Its twin city in Maine is considered to be Lewiston. Auburn was settled back in 1786, but wouldn’t become its own, independent city until six years later. Apparently, its name was inspired by the fictitious city of Auburn from Oliver Goldsmith’s 1770 poem, “The Deserted Village.” Originally an agricultural community, Auburn’s economy would see new life with the construction of a bridge leading to Lewiston in 1823 and later the arrival of the railroad.

Today, the city’s economy is largely mixed though its highest employer is the school system. There are still some factories that remain from the 60s and 70s as well. Both of these industries depend on colocation.

If your company could also use the help of colocation, let QuoteColo help in your search. You can give us a call at 888-400-3762 or submit a Quick Form if it’s more convenient.
