High Density Data Centers

With the popularity of high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI) workloads along with the need for high-density computing solutions, many colocation data centers offer cabinets and racks with custom cooling with rack power densities up to 80kW. Instead of using multiple racks with limited power, clients can choose high kW rack solutions with front and rear door cooling and direct-to-chip cooling for their high-performance GPUs. Utilizing a high-density colocation allows for maximized performance, reduced operational risks and overall costs.

Finding a cost-effective High-Density Data Center in your desired area is no easy task. With over 20 years of experience in the colocation and data center market, QuoteColo has a huge database of qualified High-Density data centers in the USA and abroad such as Chicago, Atlanta, and Boston and Toronto). Our process is quite simple. Let us know what you need in terms of rack space, power and bandwidth and we will source you direct pricing from qualified data centers in your requested area.

To obtain FREE High-Density Colocation Quotes with absolutely NO OBLIGATION, simply submit your specific rack space, power and bandwidth requirements. We will provide you with multiple quotes for High-Density colocation services within a few hours. Alternatively, call us at 888-400-5732 (M-F, 8am-8pm EST).

High Density Data Centers

A high density data center is a facility which offers a mix of power density allotments and a mix of high density cooling options, to support multiple levels of high density colocation installs.

Colocation Power Support

The industry standard per colocation cabinet is 4 kW. The industry standard for high density colocation is up to 80 kW per cabinet. Within a high density colocation data center, the facility supports power densities ranging from 4 kW to 80 kW per cabinet.

Colocation Cooling Support

The basic premise behind all data center cooling technology is cold air velocity. The harder cold air blasts across the data center, the colder that environment will be. The main problem with this approach is that there’s a limit to how quickly cold air can be thrown about, and the warm air expelled by servers interferes with cooling.

High density data centers aim to fix the issue by installing a cooling system which filters warm air, eliminating hot pockets and the need for high velocity, and thus very costly cooling.

In addition to this, a fair amount of high density colocation data centers aim to resolve the issue by funneling super cooling water around cabinets/servers, in an effort to keep the machines as cold as possible. While liquid cooling is the current end goal, its price is hefty.

Server Impact

With high density colocation cabinets and highly proficient cooling systems, monthly client IT spend drops. This drop in monthly costs allows clients to turn 20 2U servers into 4 blade chassis, or 40 1U servers into 4 blade chassis, for example.

In turn, the hardware and price reduction enables clients to purchase additional hardware, without having to worry about increasing horizontal data center footprints.
