Your full name, company, and title (if applicable)
— Olalekan Alabi , Alabi’s goods, Owner
What led you to contact QuoteColo? What challenge were you facing?
— What lead me to QuoteColo was the pairing service they had. It was difficult to find legitimate ASIC hosting services for small time miners.
What did QuoteColo propose, and how did they first reach out (phone, email, etc.)?
— I actually found QuoteColo. And reached out Via email to Bob and he was very welcoming.
Were you initially skeptical about QuoteColo or its offerings?
— I had no reason to be skeptical about QuoteColo themselves. My skepticism was always with the introduced party. Just doing the due diligence hoping they would met whatever standards I have developed for my partners.
How did QuoteColo help solve your needs or challenges?
— QuoteColo really helped me to find legitimate services. In the ever expanding industry it hard to tell what’s what especially as a newbie. I couldn’t really get my foot in the door with any services simply because I didn’t know what to look for our how to connect. QuoteColo gave me a great kick start.
Are you still using QuoteColo’s recommendations? If so, how’s it going?
— I am still using QuoteColo’s recommendations. Overall it’s going pretty well. Some recommendations have worked out perfectly I couldn’t be happier. Others not so much no fault to QuoteColo at all the disconnect comes after I been with the 3rd party for some time. Something you can only tell after being with them for a while.
What did you like most about the QuoteColo service?
— I like the monthly updates emails. You see the changed prices for a particular miner or hosting KWH for a particular state. It’s great info even there financing options shows they know what the next step of a solo miner might be.

Mining partners
Your full name, company, and title (if applicable)
— Rich Chumsky – Owner – Buffalo Computer Recycling
What led you to contact QuoteColo? What challenge were you facing?
— We were looking for companies that could partner with us to get the most value out of the miners that were near the end of life that we recycle for our clients.
What did QuoteColo propose, and how did they first reach out (phone, email, etc.)?
— They connected us multiple times via Email to companies that could potentially repair the units or condense them down to working units for a higher return than scrap.
Were you initially skeptical about QuoteColo or its offerings?
— Yes, however it was not QuoteColo, the mining industry has a lot of shady individuals, so we were skeptical of the companies we were introduced to and visited their sites before doing business with the companies, after our first test shipments.
How did QuoteColo help solve your needs or challenges?
— We were able to utilized Quotecolo network to find partners we would otherwise have struggled to find.
Are you still using QuoteColo’s recommendations? If so, how’s it going?
— We are currently working with two of the companies you recommended, and so far, the companies have been decent, one has been excellent and on has been ok. It is hard to split between if the company is not doing enough or our product is so old that it is very hard to sell. So far, it does seem like it is the material age that is the issue but we can let you know once we complete the set of deals we have made.
Colocation transition
Vendor discovery
Your full name, company, and title (if applicable)
— Drew G. Gray, Director of Technology
What led you to contact QuoteColo? What challenge were you facing?
— We wished to move our on-premises servers to a colocation arrangement, so we didn’t have to worry about power and cooling concerns.
What did QuoteColo propose, and how did they first reach out (phone, email, etc.)?
— We promptly received emails from several vendors, over the course of a week, who were eager to have our business. These ranged from budget conscious options to white-glove quality operations.
Were you initially skeptical about QuoteColo or its offerings?
— We were not skeptical as QuoteColo is a clearinghouse for the actual vendors and their only interest is in matching clients with vendors. There was no pressure to purchase any services we didn’t want, or really any red flags that would suggest QuoteColo was anything but a 100% legitimate service.
How did QuoteColo help solve your needs or challenges?
— QuoteColoo led us to several solid potential colocation providers, one of which we chose for our servers.
Are you still using QuoteColo’s recommendations? If so, how’s it going?
— The initial provider we chose from the group provided by QuoteColo, ultimately, was a failure. That was our choice, though. We have since switched to another colocation provider.
What did you like most about the QuoteColo service?
— Simply, a web search yielded QuoteColo, the initial intake information was simple to provide, and we had a variety of colocation provider options within a week, without having to do further searching. QuoteColo is a valuable service.
I would only add one thing – after we disengaged from 365DataCenters, we ultimately chose CoreSite. Both CoreSite and Equinix, IIRC, were not part of the group who responded to our inquiry on QuoteColo initially. I don’t know if that was because we weren’t an interesting customer to them at the time, or if they were not part of your service. If they’re not part of your normal vendors, I would recommend that they sign-on to your service.

High-power colocation
Custom requirements
Your full name, company, and title (if applicable)
— I’m Sean McNamara. I work for General Dynamics as a Cloud Engineering team lead, but, disclaimer: my engagement with QuoteColo and Opus Interactive (the company you referred me to) has been exclusively for a personal hobby project. My opinions and experiences with QuoteColo and Opus Interactive are entirely my own, and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of my employer.
What led you to contact QuoteColo? What challenge were you facing?
— I contacted QuoteColo because I was struggling to find a colocation partner that would meet my requirements. Many colocation companies refuse to work with individuals, and require proof of a business license to even establish a relationship with you. In addition, most companies are unwilling or unable to meet my specific requirements: I needed a fairly high power, but small server to be deployed with plenty of monthly data transfer. I notice that “typical” colocation offers assume a certain, small amount of power (wattage) per rack unit, so if you want a server that uses two modern, high-consumption CPUs and pulls more than 500W or so, you end up with a colo company wanting to charge you for 1/2 rack or a full rack. QuoteColo understood my special requirements, that I don’t need to take up much space in the rack — just 1U, actually — but I did need to draw more power than conventional 1U servers due to using two large high core count EPYC CPUs. The value that QuoteColo provided is in identifying a colocation partner who would be able to accommodate my request, and then putting me in touch with them.
What did QuoteColo propose, and how did they first reach out (phone, email, etc.)?
— QuoteColo connected me with Opus Interactive, and I explained my project and use case to them, including my need for a gigabit speed Internet uplink, an IPMI uplink, a public IPv4 block, and a relatively high power draw 1U server. Opus was able to put together a quote in their “shared rack” that met my budget and technical expectations.
Were you initially skeptical about QuoteColo or its offerings?
— I was not initially skeptical, other than a general sense of wondering whether my requirements were “doable” at all, with any provider. It turns out that they are, fortunately, and I just needed to find the right partner who would be able to make it happen. I understand that QuoteColo is able to cast a wide net when searching across many providers with various offerings, and find one that matches almost any technical and budget needs.
How did QuoteColo help solve your needs or challenges?
— Just by explaining my requirements and expectations, QuoteColo was able to connect me to a company that could meet my project requirements. The very first company they referred me to was the one I ended up going with; I didn’t need to go back to them for multiple rounds of shopping providers. This made the experience easy and seamless.
Are you still using QuoteColo’s recommendations? If so, how’s it going?
— Yes, I am still using QuoteColo’s referred provider, Opus Interactive. They are an excellent group of datacenter professionals who helped me through my first-ever colocation experience, including on-site setup. Only a little troubleshooting was needed, and we completed the deployment well within the time window allotted.
What did you like most about the QuoteColo service?
— I most liked that QuoteColo was able to find a provider that could meet my needs on the first try. This tells me they have a lot of experience in finding the right company for a job, by paying attention to the customer’s requirements and expectations, and matching them with a provider that is able and willing to meet said requirements and expectations.
